Description | The lab provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology. Systems to be studied include integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and special senses. | ||||||||||

The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer. -The REQUIRED workbook for the Bio 2101 lab (A&P1) is Laboratory Manual for Human Anatomy & Physiology by Greene, Robinson, and Strong. First edition. Pearson Publishing, ISBN:978-013-441797-4 You will also need a copy of the lecture textbook and Mastering A&P Access code. The textbook is "Human Anatomy & Physiology", 2nd ed by Erin Amerman. The ISBN number for the lecture textbook only is 978-0134-754-239. The ISBN number for the Mastering A&P access code is 978-0-134-78807-4 The Access code can also be purchased directly from Pearson on the Mastering A&P site. If purchased online, there will be 2 options (approximate prices) a $70 version and a $120 version. The ONLY difference between these is the $120 version includes an electronic textbook (e-text) while the $70 version does not. This MAP access code is ABSOLUTELY required and you will also be able to use it for the lab, and for A&P2 lecture and lab (4 courses). Students will receive Instructions for purchase via email on first day of class, and Instructions will also be posted in the course Black Board page (Announcements on Homepage). The lecture textbook and Pearson Mastering Access code are also available as a bundle and/or separately in the LSCPA bookstore. |

Determination of Final Grade |
Each lab exam will count 20% toward your final lab average. There will be 4 lab exams which will represent 80% of your grade. The average of all of the online pre-lab assignments will count for 20% of your final lab average. No grades are dropped when calculating averages. No makeup exams are given, and there are NO re-takes on any exam. All lab exams must be taken as scheduled during your lab period. . Lecture and Lab grades are NOT combined. Each course will be graded independently. Exams that are not taken as scheduled will receive a grade of zero. |

Attendance Policy |
Attendance in all labs IS REQUIRED. It is NOT possible to attend a lab from a different instructor. It is also NOT possible to take a lab exam from a different lab instructor. If you have questions, you can come by during my office hours, or you can email me at anytime. You will need to schedule time to complete exams during their period of availability. You will be able to take an exam after the scheduled availability period, but there will be a time penalty imposed (10% time reduction for each day that student is late taking the exam). If you miss an exam because of an excused absence, your lowest lecture exam score will be used as the score for the exam that you missed. Excused absences include medical and family emergencies and are determined at the instructor's discretion. You can only miss one exam with an excused absence (excluding the final), and you must take the final exam. Poor preparation or conflict with other scheduled exams is not a valid excuse for missing an exam. |
